Can you all believe it's April already? The lambies have been busy planting flowers and learning about how plants grow. Today we read Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert.
We looked at all of the beautiful colors of the flowers and the stems and leaves. The lambies shared with the group which flowers were there favorite. Next they got to work.
Supplies for this project are:
- Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlart - the library has a large version which is perfect for reading to a class of kids.
- Cardstock papers in bright colors - cut into circles of different sizes, stems, leaves and petals of different shapes and sizes.
- Liquid glue with a bit of water added
- Brushes
- Butterfly stickers from the dollar store
The lambies got to choose whether they wanted a lightish blue of a dark blue paper for their background. I saved the blue cardstock from the pack for these. I told them it would be best for them to work with their paper oriented the tall way, since the stems would fit better on the paper that way.
Next, I passed out stems in light and dark green and they started gluing them down. As they were working I put out leaves, circles (for flower centers), and petals. They were all so engaged and loving collaging their flower gardens. When they were finished, each child got to choose one 3D butterfly sticker to put on their flower pictures. They loved them!
I am so happy with how much fun the lambies had and how beautiful these collages turned out!
HAPPY SPRING FROM THE LAMBIES!!
